Hi! I’m Teacher Cristina
I live in Savannah, Georgia, on the southeast coast of the USA. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology and Master’s degree in Biology as well as a TESOL certificate from the International Open Academy. I have been teaching and tutoring students of all levels and abilities in many subjects (English, Science, Math) for 15+ years. I have also been involved in aquaculture and coastal research during that time and have several published papers of my research. I began teaching English online with VIPKid almost 2 years ago and have met so many wonderful students and families! I am excited to be able to offer ESL classes independently to stay in touch with my students and meet some new learners! Studies have shown that kids remember more about what they learn when they are having fun, so I focus on trying to make each lesson exciting and memorable for my students. I have a professional classroom set up with digital effects to impress young learners and assure a stable connection. I have two young children of my own, so as a parent, I understand the importance of giving your children the opportunity to learn important skills in their life. I am committed to my responsibility to help my students with their English, and I hope to see your son or daughter in my classroom soon!
Class Options
Specialized Private Classes
These private 1-to-1 classes consist of some warm-up and free-talk, curriculum activities including interactive slides from Abridge Academy and Crystal Clear ESL for younger students and slides from ESL Pals for older students, and a summary of what to practice. With private classes, the lessons go at the pace that meets the student’s needs. We focus on exactly what the student can improve on, and no time is wasted reviewing things that the student already knows.
Conversation Practice
Conversation practice builds confidence in students. The teacher will ask lots of questions to keep the student talking, and be correcting grammar along the way. This is also a great option for students that resist textbook learning. The subjects will be tailored to the students interests, keeping them excited and engaged the whole time.
Reading Classes
It's very important for students to be confident in reading English if they will be pursuing higher education or international business. By reading out loud, the teacher is able to correct pronunciation, and the student is able to better understand the usage of new words by seeing them in context. Reading out loud builds confidence in students of all ages and levels. The student can bring their own reading material or I can recommend a novel or text that would be appropriate for their age and reading level.

Students that have bought lesson packages have access to many English learning resources in the ‘members only’ section of the website. This includes many downloadable books, activities, and workbooks to pair with the curriculum that they have chosen. Parents can view future learning material and help prepare their students for success.
Students enjoy a fully interactive classroom hosted on Zoom and all lessons are recorded. Written class feedback and a video link is sent to the parents after each lesson.

Meet my family! My husband, Anthony, is a professor at Georgia Southern University and we have a 9 year old son (AJ) and 6 year old daughter (Lina). We also have two cats, Jimmy and Casey. When I am not teaching I enjoy reading and spending time with my family outdoors playing at a park or at the beach.
