Welcome to Learning with Wendla

I would like to begin by telling you a bit about myself.

I am a motivated and talented Educator with more than five years of current online ESL teaching experience and many years of teaching at all grade levels in a formal classroom.

I have the experience, education and knowledge to ensure my students gain a strong foundation of English language skills including grammar, reading and personal expression. In addition to my formal educational degrees, I have achieved certifications and taught at all the different on-line learning levels, guiding students through the sometimes, challenging world of English learning.

As a teacher and as a mother of three men who are now enjoying their careers as a lawyer, a police detective and an equity managing partner of an accounting firm, I understand the importance of strong educational values and positive encouragement.

My lessons are student-focused, interesting and include development in vocabulary, grammar, speaking and reading skills. These lessons which are held through the Class–In app are interactive to keep your child involved in the lesson. Each lesson is followed-up with personalized feedback and a homework assignment specific to the lesson for your child to complete.

Specialized Private Classes

These private 1-to-1 classes consist of some warm-up and free-talk, curriculum activities, and a summary of what needs to be practiced. With private classes, the lessons go at the pace that meets the student’s needs. We focus on areas that the student can improve while reviewing important grammar rules and proper sentence structure. Formal feedback will be provided after each lesson along with suggested after-class practice.

Let’s Chat - Conversation and Self-Expression For Students

Conversational practice builds self-confidence! These are wonderful classes for students. I will guide my students through their conversation with lots of questions to keep the student talking, and I will be correcting grammar along the way. This is also a great option for students that resist textbook learning. The subjects will be tailored to individual interests, keeping them excited and engaged.

Let’s Chat - Conversation and Self-Expression for Adults

Confidence when expressing yourself in English is just as important for adults as it is for students. In these classes we will take the opportunity to talk about the things that are important to you. I will help guide you through some of the nuances of English, discussing items that are of interest to you while building your own self-confidence.

Let’s Read

It's very important for students to be confident in reading English especially if they will be pursuing higher education or international business. By reading stories of interest aloud, I am able to keep the students engaged while correcting pronunciation. We will review unfamiliar vocabulary and at the end of each lesson the student will discuss what they have read. Through the Let’s Read classes students will understand the proper usage of new words by seeing them in context. Reading out loud builds confidence in students of all ages and levels while encouraging self-expression

Students enjoy a fully interactive classroom hosted on ClassIn, with lots of digital effects and fun. Class scheduling is simple and clear within the app, and all lessons are recorded. Written class feedback and a video link is sent to the parents after each lesson.
